Happiness at 6:48 PM

I stopped in the middle of the mall, wondering if my eyes were playing tricks on me or is the one up there answering my lil' secret birthday prayers with a mean twist. My eyes were fixed on the escalator while I stood still, confused, and too stunned to think about the usual who, what, where, why and how... For about 30 seconds, I thought I'll feel angry, I thought I'll feel pain, I thought I'm still standing at the very same spot where I was 4 years ago. Just for that 30 seconds... I turned around and saw that familiar figure smiling warmly at me. He held my hand firmly and said 'Let's go, we need to get the pen engraved for mummy'. I nodded and followed his lead. As we were walking towards Tiffany, I took a good look at his back view and I know instantly that I was wrong. I'm not angry, I'm not hurt and the who, what, where, why and how no longer bothered me. My happiness is in my hands now, I thought to myself as I squeezed his hand a little tighter. I'm a happy little girl.
